Final Critique - after after hours - an Editor's Critique

You know, I always want to lowercase all these titles mainly because I think it's a superficial way to express my artistic-ness. This final came from a collaboration with Katie Massey and Trinity Poole. They wanted the idea of a girl running away from home.
The first shoots were almost unusable when I received them. But I managed to cut something out of the footage that was focused and more visually appealing.
I edit the actress entirely out (my apologies for her falling down in horse crap and already stressed) and found the footage of her shadows to be finding its voice on its own.
Sneakers was a champ. I know trick horses were used back in the day but this pony was amazing to work with. However, the one footage we shot the second night, was with Sneakers jumping over a stream. No other footage can match that feeling of surprise and energy. I decided to not use any of the footage of Sneakers aside from the jumping shot.
The only thing I am irked with is the sound. I worked a long time on the sound especially pulling from one main source. Thankfully, playing with the levels and curves made the sound ambient and a sense of hauntings.
This film is a lot about hauntings. I once heard hauntings are always about jealousy. Playing from the darkness, light playing against the surroundings and the background, the shadow taking shape, plays with the sense of haunting. Something intangible becoming tangible.
The rest of the film is made of static shots and establishing shots of this country-esque field. I love the subtleness and the darkness. The darkness is something I'm proud of, next to Sneakers jumping.
Overall, I think the film is short and to the point, something that Katie and Trinity wanted. The concept may have changed but I think the editing pulled it all together.
